Results of the 2024 Data Transformation Research Grants

The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC), in collaboration with the broader cancer community, have released a pan-Canadian cancer data strategy with the mission of inspiring and supporting the mobilization of data to improve cancer care access, experience and outcomes in Canada.  The strategy recommends specific actions to advance three priorities:

  • Improve the efficiency, timeliness and quality of data capture and access
  • Enhance linkages to current data
  • Fill gaps in current data collection and make data accessible for linkage and analysis

As part of implementing this strategy, CCS is supporting short and mid-term projects that demonstrate potential solutions, addressing one or more of the priorities, that can be scaled and sustained, leading to improved cancer care and outcomes for all people in Canada.

Expert review process for the 2024 Data Transformation Research Grants competition

31 full applications were received by the May 1st, 2024 registration deadline and 9 have been approved for funding corresponding to a 29% success rate. These projects total over $2 million in funding over the full term of these grants.

One expert review committee composed of diverse (gender, geography, career stage, race) scientists, end-users/decision-makers, and patients/survivors/caregivers was assembled.
