CCS Funded Research Showcases

A unique opportunity to engage with CCS-funded research

In 2024, CCS started hosting annual in person research showcase, held in a different province each year across Canada. Our research showcases highlight our significant investments in cancer research while celebrating the contributions of researchers, donors, volunteers and patient partners who make this work possible. They provide a unique opportunity to highlight CCS-funded research and promote engagement, networking, knowledge sharing and collaboration among local cancer research community.

These events consists  in oral and posters presentations that provides the CCS community, including patient partners, volunteers, donors, researchers and those with lived/living experience of cancer, to learn firsthand about CCS’s cancer research investments. They offers a unique opportunity for invited interested individuals to gain a comprehensive understanding of the breadth of our research portfolio, discuss research progress and witness the significant impact of donations to CCS on cancer research and patient outcomes.

Previous showcases

The Canadian Cancer Society Quebec Research Showcase highlighted current investments in cancer research and celebrated the contributions of researchers, donors, volunteers, and patient partners who make this work possible. Presentation sessions provided a unique opportunity to connect with the Quebec-based cancer research community, in both French and English.

BTG Symposium

This event showcased CCS’s significant investments of over $55M, made in partnership with CIHR-ICR, CRS, Brain Canada, and the Lotte & John Hecht Memorial Foundation, in the Breakthrough Team Grants (BTG) program to transform outcomes for 6 low survival cancers: brain, esophageal, liver, lung, pancreatic and stomach cancers. During this session, Breakthrough Team Grant (BTG) Teams shared high-level updates on their research from the first year of their 5-year grants. Presentations included information on progress, breakthroughs, milestones achieved, and upcoming plans. The sessions have also highlighted collaborative and training efforts within the teams, emphasizing the involvement of patient partners and training/mentorship of the next generation of cancer researchers – demonstrating CCS’s commitment to research approaches that will drive broader and more meaningful impact.
