Researcher engagement
As a partner in research, we are re-defining the funder-researcher relationship to enhance and expand opportunities for mutual benefit. Learn more about research showcases, the research newsletter, the Advisory Council on Research (ACOR), review panels and the Research Information Outreach Team (RIOT).
CCS funded Research Showcases
The CCS funded research showcase events consist of oral or posters presentations that provide the CCS community, including patient partners, volunteers, donors, researchers and those with lived/living experience of cancer, to learn firsthand about CCS’s cancer research investments. These events offer unique opportunities for interested individuals to gain a comprehensive understanding of the breadth of our research portfolio, discuss research progress and witness the significant impact of donations to CCS on cancer research and patient outcomes.

ACOR and review panels
Funding excellent research that improves cancer control is critical to the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). Key to this is excellence in peer review and leadership in the cancer research community.

The Advisory Council on Research (ACOR)
The Advisory Council on Research (ACOR) plays a pivotal role in the stewardship of CCS research by providing advice on CCS’s Research Strategy, policies, and research grants and awards programs.

Review panels
CCS composes expert review grant panels for its competitions. The Chairs and members of the panels include experienced Canadian and international scientists, people with lived experience, end-users / decision-makers, and reviewers with other experience as appropriate.
Research Information Outreach Team (RIOT)
o The Research Information Outreach Team (RIOT) program aims to bridge the gap between research and the public. RIOT teams are comprised of various volunteer trainees including medical students, graduate students and post-doctoral and research fellows. Members are passionate about scientific outreach and are dedicated to knowledge sharing, engaging with diverse groups across Canada.
