Results of the 2024 Research Training Awards Competition
CCS’s research strategy centers people at its core and aims to deliver results that will significantly improve the outlook for people affected by cancer in Canada. By making a significant investment in the recruitment and training of cancer research trainees CCS hopes to strengthen the future of the cancer research ecosystem in Canada.
CCS and its partners launched the 2024 Research Training Awards in December 2023. This award is intended to support growth and innovation in the next generation of diverse cancer researchers across Canada at the Master’s, Doctoral and Postdoctoral levels. It will support individuals in conducting cancer related research while fostering long term connections with Canada’s cancer research ecosystem through a combination of exposures to other disciplines, knowledge translation, engagement, and mentorship opportunities.
To address structural and systemic barriers to inclusion, and increase diverse representation in our cancer research ecosystem, we supported and encouraged Black and Indigenous trainees to apply at the PhD, and postdoctoral level. Black and Indigenous students only were invited to apply for the 2024 Master’s competition.
