Treatment that involves giving stem cells (unspecialized cells), which develop into healthy specialized cells and replace damaged tissue.

For example, stem cell transplant is used to replace blood-forming stems cells in bone marrow damaged or destroyed by disease (such as cancer), drugs or radiation.
