limb perfusion

Description

A procedure for delivering high doses of anti-cancer drugs directly into an arm or leg.

During limb perfusion, a tourniquet (tight band) is used to temporarily stop the normal flow of blood to the limb, and anti-cancer drugs are put directly into the blood in the limb.

Also called isolated perfusion or isolated limb perfusion.
