Description

A substance found in some plants (such as soybeans, peanuts, beans and lentils) that is similar to estrogen (phytoestrogen).

Isoflavones are a type of phytochemical. Researchers are studying the role of isoflavones in preventing cancer and osteoporosis (loss of bone density), as well as in relieving symptoms of menopause (such as hot flashes).
