gastrinoma

Description

A type of neuroendocrine tumour (which starts in cells of the neuroendocrine system) that develops in the stomach, duodenum (the first part of the small intestine) or pancreas. It releases gastrin (a hormone), which can lead to too much stomach acid and ulcers in the stomach and small intestine.

Gastrinomas can be non-cancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant).
