cystic fibrosis

Description

An inherited condition that affects the lung, digestive system and other organs in the body. Mucus and digestive juices become sticky and thick, and plug up the lungs and pancreas. People with cystic fibrosis also have a higher than normal amount of salt in their sweat.

Cystic fibrosis causes a small increased risk of cancer of the digestive system, especially in the small intestine.
