bolus
Description
A bolus is either a small, rounded mass (especially of chewed food mixed with saliva) or a single, prepared (usually large) dose of a drug or substance.
For example, a person will receive a bolus of barium before a barium x-ray, or a diabetic may inject a bolus of insulin to control blood sugar levels.
