blast crisis

Description

The point when the accelerated phase of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) turns quickly into the blast phase and the disease begins to act like acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). Signs and symptoms of blast crisis include fever, tiredness, an enlarged spleen and more than 30% of cells in the blood or bone marrow are blast cells (immature blood cells).
