Call for Nominations - CCS Advisory Council on Research (ACOR)
Background @(Model.HeadingTag)>
Since 1951, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) Advisory Council on Research (ACOR) has played a pivotal role in the stewardship of CCS-funded research. By providing advice on CCS research grants and awards programs, as well as strategic priorities, funding policies and processes, and evaluation of its funding programs, ACOR supports CCS to fund research that makes a measurable impact on the lives of people affected by cancer in Canada.
ACOR members include scientists (researchers), as well as people with lived experience (termed patients/survivors/caregivers or PSCs). Membership is sought from diverse backgrounds, career stages, geography, age, gender, race, cancer experience, and other factors.
Nomination Process @(Model.HeadingTag)>
CCS Research is excited to launch a nomination process in pursuit of interested and eligible candidates to fill existing and future vacancies on ACOR. Candidates are encouraged to self-nominate by completing the required form after reviewing both the Terms of Reference and Code of Conduct for ACOR. We aim to utilize this process, in addition to other methods of recruitment, to ensure that all eligible individuals are able to make their interest known to CCS.
There are currently 3 scientific vacancies, with an additional 2 becoming vacant in July, 2024. We also have up to 2 PSC vacancies. Additional vacancies will emerge as ACOR membership terms end.
Nominations will be evaluated for alignment with CCS values, strategic goals and integrated approaches, and will also be considered against current composition with a lens for maximizing diversity (e.g. background, geography, career stage, expertise/experience, gender, race). All nominees will be advised of the final decision in writing by the end of January, 2024. We will endeavour to plan membership in advance as much as possible, and anticipate launching this process on a biennial basis. We encourage nominees to re-apply.
Nominations are due by Friday, December 15, 2023 @ 5pm ET. Please do not submit a CV as these will not be reviewed.
