Plummer-Vinson syndrome
Description
A condition where the tongue becomes swollen and thin webs of tissue form in the esophagus. It is often found in people with long-term anemia caused by a lack of iron in their body. Plummer-Vinson syndrome increases the risk of esophageal cancer.
Also called Paterson-Kelly syndrome.
