Supporting the breast cancer cause virtually

On October 4, 2020, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is inviting Canadians from coast-to-coast to take part in the first-ever virtual CIBC Run for the Cure.

The CIBC Run for the Cure unites a collective of people who are a force-for-life in the face of breast cancer. Now, more than ever, we need your support to make a meaningful difference for people living with and beyond breast cancer.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, CCS adapted to a virtual model for our major fundraising events. Last month, we saw the success of our first-ever Relay At Home event which raised $4.4 million,” says Tanya Henry, Vice President, Signature Programs. “Now, we’re looking forward to a one-of-a-kind virtual experience for the CIBC Run for the Cure in October.”

Our exciting virtual experience will include all the things you love about Run day from connecting with your teammates, to an inspirational opening ceremony and high-energy warm-up, and a few surprises. Through our refreshed mobile app and Run website, you’ll be able create and customize your own avatar, fundraise to unlock rewards and track your steps.

We’ll organize the fun online and you’ll have the option to bring together a small group of friends or family to run or walk around your neighbourhood as part of your at-home celebration. More details of the event will be shared online and through social media during the summer.

Being physically apart won’t stop us from coming together. Join us on Run day to change the future of breast cancer.
