The good news is that a study you helped fund is helping to guide treatment for men who have metastatic hormone-resistant prostate cancer.
Led by Dr Kim Chi and Dr Daniel Khalaf, the study was comprised of 202 Canadians diagnosed with this type of prostate cancer. The doctors studied two drugs that are widely used to treat it to see if there was a sequence in which they should be administered for ideal results.
Their research found that the order the drugs were given did matter. Men who were given one of these drugs before the other saw a four-month delay in the progression of their cancer. And, Dr. Chi says these results “will be able to change practice right away.”
